Le secret de Jérôme (1994) Jerome's Secret
In September of 1863, a young man, with both legs amputated and apparently mute, is found on the beach at Anse-de Sable, at Baie Sainte-Marie in Nova Scotia. He is taken into the home of Jean Nicolas, called the Corsican, and his wife Julitte, who develops an affection for the stranger and names him Jérôme. Married two years, the couple is unable to have children, when for Jean, to have descendants would mean being accepted in his social circle. Several characters, fraught with enigmas, revolve around this trio. Obsessed with his desire to have children, Jean strives by various means to produce one. Faced with her husband's schemes, Julitte finds a solution of her own.
